Support American Manufacturing-The Story Behind the Logo
Supporting American Manufacturing is something that we often here in various contexts and reports. This is a quick reading story about how one company took the initiative to create a symbol that draws attention to the American metalworkers and will continue to do so for many years to come!
What does it mean to Support American Manufacturing? If we were to ask a thousand people, we would probably get a thousand different answers! However, here at Precision Machine & Manufacturing, we define Support American Manufacturing simply as a dedicated interest in sourcing and purchasing from companies that manufacture goods and services within the 50 states making up the United States of America.
Supporting American Manufacturing means we recognize and take pride in the hard-working American men and women who hold critical jobs within the manufacturing sector to generate their livelihoods and support their families. Thankfully, American Manufacturing is making a resurgence here in the United States of America and here at Precision Machine & Manufacturing, we are proud to be one of the many American manufacturers who can boast Made in the USA on all the material handling components we manufacture.
Our pride in this great country and our support of the many men and women who have sacrificed so much in support of our freedom is what spawned the initial discussions internally. Our team here at Precision Machine & Manufacturing had a growing interest in bringing increased awareness and greater visibility to the thriving American manufacturing segment of our economy and ensuring we kept a consistent message visible within the industry at all times.

We decided to develop the idea of designing a Support American Manufacturing logo with the focal point pulling from specific elements of other symbols commonly used to represent America, while also ensuring the logo was unique and specific to Precision Machine & Manufacturing. The team unanimously agreed that an eagle had to be the focal point because it represents strength and freedom here in America, and since the rotary valve airlocks and screw conveyors we manufacture are also the strongest in the industry, it seemed like a natural fit. However, making an eagle specific to a company can be a challenging task. To do so we chose to focus on fabricating & welding along with heavy metal machining, which are two primary metalworking sides of our operation, and identified two of the most commonly used tools within these two trades. For the fabricating & welding side of our business, we chose a welding/cutting torch and for machining, we chose a micrometer. The design included the eagle grasping both tools in its claws and we thought a nice touch would be to have the eagle wearing a welding hood with the PMM logo on the side. We topped the design off with our Made in the USA shield, a red, white, and blue color scheme (of course), and Support American Manufacturing around the outside. The finished product was awesome, and the entire team was extremely pleased with the final design! When we released it to the industry, the response was and continues to be outstanding!
Due to the tremendous response, we felt it was in our best interest to engage in the trademarking process. As a result, we were authorized to add the small “TM” as we await final approval and the “R,” which communicates the trademark has been fully registered.
We hope this new logo will contribute towards building an American-wide awareness to continue growing manufacturing here in America and encourage all Americans to choose quality over the temptation of a cheap price. In doing so, we not only support the American worker and job growth within this great land, but we join together to put our resources back into our economy, right here in America!
As we recently celebrated the 4th of July and 248 years of independence, we like to think that Americans buying from Americans is exactly what our founding fathers had in mind when the Declaration of Independence was signed back on August 2nd, 1776.
For us here at Precision Machine & Manufacturing, this is what it means to Support American Manufacturing!
