ACOM – ATEX CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) MONITORING

ACOM is a continuous carbon‑monoxide (CO) monitoring system that provides early warning of smouldering and thermal decomposition in spray dryers and bag filters. 

ACOM continuously samples process air from all major air inlets, this is compared in real-time to the outlet of the dryer. The system measures absolute CO levels in both air streams and evaluates the difference (delta CO) to identify CO that originates inside the process.

This paired‑sampling approach filters out background CO from external sources such as boilers or traffic and focuses on CO created by smouldering deposits. Precise mass flow control ensures sample stability across varying humidity and operating conditions, while fast analyser measurement provides reliable, continuous CO readings.

The ACOM PLC applies gradient algorithms, running averages and time/flow compensation to detect steep or unusual rises in CO while suppressing short‑term harmless fluctuations.
